101 Recipes for Microwave Mug Cakes Review & Giveaway ENDED

Microwave mug cakes provide a perfect baking opportunity for those who don’t spend much time in the kitchen. Even apartment-dwellers who lack space and cooking equipment (not to mention basic cooking skills) can follow the simple instructions to create such delicacies as Chocolate Caramel Microwave Mug Cake, Lemon Poppy Seed Microwave Mug Cake, Blueberry Muffin Microwave Mug Cake, and even Pizza Microwave Mug Cake.

All you need is a few everyday items (including a small bowl, any spoon, a mug, and a few tablespoons of flour, sugar, an egg, and so forth), and you are less than ten minutes away from baking a microwave mug cake.

My Thoughts: I have two small girls who love to help mom bake and then of course eat what we bake. This is the perfect book for us because we can bake a cake whenever we want and it’s the perfect size for my girls to share. When the book arrived I skimmed through to find which ones they would enjoy the most. Once I picked a few I gave them a choice of which cakes we could make according to what I had in the house.

We first decided to make the Chocolate Pistachio Cake. I just happen to have Pistachio pudding mix in the house so it worked well. I gathered the ingredients, which I had almost all of on hand and we began to bake our cake. The girls were amazed at how ‘cool’ it was to bake a cake right in mommy’s coffee mug! They had the best time and we’ve done a few times since.

I did have to experiment with a few different size mugs and also the time on our microwave. Ours is pretty powerful so they came out a bit dry but once I regulated the time it was pretty good! Of course the girls like it dry or not! LOL Kids are funny like that.

Most cakes use the basic and then for the flavor it’s either pudding mix, jello mix, yogurt and juices. So really most of this is stuff you already have in your house. Great quick project!

This book is good for so many people but if you like to bake with children I think it will be a HUGE hit. It was with us!

    I’m not really prejudice when it comes to cake. I like vanilla or chocolate with cream cheese or whipped icing. I’ve tried a chocolate cake in mug before and it is yummy!
