Spring is here, the flowers and trees are blooming and the allergies are flaring! I suffered bad allergies when I was a teenager and the minute Spring rolled around and they started opening the windows at school, it all began! There weren’t as many allergy meds then (not that it was that long ago) and the ones that worked made me drowsy so I just had to suffer. Fortunately I grew out of that and very rarely am I effected by the allergens in the air now and that makes me very happy. My three year old isn’t so lucky. Her eyes water like crazy and it makes me so sad to see her like that. We have a lot of trees and flowers in our yard so there’s no way of avoiding it.
What I had not realized was that Lysol can actually help control indoor allergens!
Allergy flare-ups are often attributed to the allergens outside your front door. However, did you know that the same allergens are found on surfaces inside 75 million homes across America? According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), some of the most common indoor allergens, include dust mites, mold and household pets.
Lysol sent me a can of Lysol Disinfectant wipes and Lysol Disinfectant Spray along with some tips on keeping allergens out of your home:
- Reduce Pet Dander – Decrease your exposure to pet dander by keeping your pet out of your bedroom, since this is typically the room in which people spend a majority of their time.
- Wrap Things Up – Put fabric covers over common dust mite hideouts such as pillows, mattresses and sofa cushions and wash bedding often.
- Clear the Air – Prevent pollen from entering your home by keeping windows and doors closed during peak allergy season. Air filters are also considered useful for helping clear the air of lingering allergens triggers.
- Wipe Down Surfaces – Be sure to frequently clean hard surfaces to get rid of allergens in your home. Use LYSOL Disinfecting Wipes to remove 90% of pollen particles and dust mite debris, in addition to killing 99.9% of illness-causing bacteria. Also use LYSOL Disinfectant Spray to kill the source of mold allergens on hard, non-porous surfaces.
- Avoid Mold Spores – To help reduce mold: use an air conditioner in humid climates and avoid the use of humidifiers in dry climates. Also, run the bathroom fan or open the window when showering.
- Talk to Your Doctor – It is important to talk to your doctor about whether or not allergy testing, medications, and/or other measures are recommended.
I’ve been wiping more things down lately, including light switches and door knobs with the Lysol Disinfecting Wipes especially with me and my girls being sick so much lately. Would you believe they are both sick again! Crazy. I’ve been using the Lysol Disinfectant Spray in our garage where we had some water come in with the flooding last month to help cut down the possible mold that may grow in there. I also use the sanitize cycle on my washer when I was the sheets and towels. Hoping that will kill more.
I also read somewhere that Martha Stewart vacuums her mattress as well to get out allergens so I’m going to do try that every now and then. Can’t hurt. I hate to see my girls suffer so I’m trying my best to do what I can!

I try to keep allergens and germs away by making sure I vacuum a lot, as well as wiping things down with Lysol wipes on a regular basis! Thanks for the chance!
One new way we try to fight germs is to wipe down all groceries with Lysol wipes as soon as we get home. We noticed how many people sneeze and cough directly onto products at the supermarket and it disgusted us to know that we were bringing all of those germs into our home.
i try to clean often and I do use lysol wipes on my toddler’s high chair.
I currently use Lysol spray and wipes. Love them!! Not a surface is safe from my lysol wipes especially in the bathroom. I spray indoor garbage cans, every type of handle, phones the list could go on and on. I also travel with both lysol spray and wipes .

I use lysol wipes to clean almost everything.
Sounds great
I love using Lysol spray and it’s the only thing I use! I think the wipes would be really good at getting rid of all the germs.

Subscriber: I noticed a big change not only in allergies but in colds and viruses when I did 2 new things: 1-switched to swiffer dusters and dusted OFTEN and 2- used my own pen in the stores to sign receipts, pharmacy pick ups, and any other thing I had to sign. Just using my own pen cut way down on germs and seemed to make us healthier so our allergies did not get quite so bad. Everytime my daughter had a bad allergy season, she also got a bad cold on top of it and it often led to phnemonia When I cut down on germs, it seemed she just had allergies to deal with and not the cold/bronchitis/asthma problem.
I am the Queen of Lysol cleaning poducts in this house. I vacuum everyday, dust, use Lysol wipes to wipe down the door knobs, tv remotes, game console remotes, light switches, counter tops everyday to keep my family safe from alergies and germs.

In the spring, when I love to open the windows, I leave the ones in my bedroom closed because of my husband’s seasonal allergies. I also wipe down the windowsills to remove pollen (using Lysol wipes, of course!). Thanks!

I become ridiculous when it comes to keeping my house clean. The thought of dust and germs in my house sends me over the edge. I am forever cleaning doorknobs, the phone, the computer keyboard, remotes, the list is endless!! And I am proud to say, aside from a few sniffles and scratchy throats we managed to avoid any knock em down illnesses this past winter.
Thanks for the chance!!

Karen this is another one that I don’t know if I should leave or not. I just put you button on my sidebar a few weeks ago. I hated making your giveaway hard to sort out.

I vacuum everything including the dog since we have a husky/chow that sheds like crazy. We also constantly are washing our bedding and curtians.
Washing hands every time you walk into the house in addition to all the regular times you would wash them throughout the day, washing all bedding (not just sheets) and dusting everywhere, even the hard to reach areas.
