You may recall that last week I told you about the New American Express Prepaid card which is perfect for traveling, especially if you are on a budget! You may also remember that I’ve been in San Diego the past 5 days for the BlogHer conference and I’ve been using the prepaid card all week and I’m excited to now share with you how easy it is to use.
Honestly I can’t think of a simpler way of saying it other than it’s really easy to use! It’s accepted where ever American Express is accepted, which is almost anywhere and since it has my name on it, there is no hesitation when I’ve used it. Everyone that I’ve spoken with about the card loves the idea of not having to pay any fees and having it personalized to you (my favorite part!) even the taxi driver that I told about it thought it was a great idea.
A few places I used it was at the UPS store to ship back some packages, at Starbucks to get my coffee, to pay for my hotel stay and I plan on using it at the parking garage when I get home. It truly is So simple and such a great a budgeting tool!
So how can you get one? Just head on over to AmericanExpress.com/prepaid and order a card. It’s free and you can select from a few colors. You can order the card without even putting any money on it. It takes about 1-2 weeks to arrive so make sure you leave yourself plenty of time before you need it.
Have you already used an American Express Prepaid card? I’d love to hear about it if you have.
Disclosure: American Express sponsored my trip to BlogHer by providing me with money to load onto the prepaid American Express card in exchange for me sharing my experiences on my blog. My opinions are 100% mine.
Thanks Karen, much appreciated! Please do let us know how it goes. Do you remember the days of using traveler’s checks? I do! Using an AMEX in this fashion will really help though.
Please keep us posted. The one question that I have that you may be interested in posting the answer to is this…What can be done with this pre-paid card in the event that you lose it? Is AMEX just as professional with this sort of card as they are with corporate cards? In other words, will AMEX cover any charges that come about as a result of it being stolen?
I think this a great product!
I remember traveling all over Australasia with travelers Cheques…
