Product Name: DoodleMark Drawing Pad
Product Information: The DoodleMark is a new kind of bookmark that allows kids and parents to interact with books together, like never before. Whether practicing sight words together, working on vocabulary, drawing letters, bookmarking their progress or just doodling a funny picture – its all about creative learning and having fun.
Kids love to clip a DoodleMark to any book and let their creativity run free. And parents understand the true value of learning to read and write with something that is useful, simple and powered only by a kid’s own imagination.
Purchase Information: You can purchase it online at Amazon.
Purchase Price: As low as $8.00 each!
My Thoughts: My oldest is learning how to read and this summer we are making sure we stay on top of it. Her favorite books to read are Star Wars books. And yes I have two girls and they both love Star Wars. Those books have a lot of words that she doesn’t know and while she’s very good at sounding them out, it’s still a progress in the works.
We received a DoodleMark for our review and she’s been using it the most. She attached it to the book she’s reading and as she finds the words she knows she practices writing them on the DoodleMark. So she’s reading and writing at the same time. She also likes to draw pictures of the characters in her books. What kid doesn’t love drawing right? Another thing we’ve been doing is I find a page in one of her Star Wars books and locate a word I know she doesn’t know. I write that word on the DoodleMark for her and then she goes through the page looking for the word. When she finds it we read the sentence outload, well she reads it to me. It’s a fun game and she’s always asking me for another word.
The DoodleMark is also great for in the car. Since it attaches to the book I don’t have to worry about it falling while I’m driving and can’t reach it for her. It’s pretty neat and a great learning tool.

My son needs to work on his comprehension when reading. He is into chapter books, but they don’t always have illustrations to help with understanding what he’s reading. So, I think the DoodleMark would be great for him–he could draw a picture of what he is reading, and then I can better evaluate if he is comprehending.
