My girls are big into Disney Princesses.  We’ve seen all the Princess movies, several times.  We all have our favorite Princess, even my husband does!  But why is it the Princesses always get the credit?  Some of the villains have very important roles in the movies.  I mean if it weren’t for the villains, there wouldn’t really be a story!

My favorite Disney fairytale villain is Maleficent.   She was a favorite of mine even before her movie came out.  I think she’s a misunderstood villain because all she really wanted was for someone to love and to love her back.  I agree that she went about it the WRONG way but when people make you feel like you are evil, then that’s the only way you know how to be.  I don’t think we should blame her for that.  I think we should cut her some slack!   Thankfully my girls agree.

In case your kids haven’t reminded you every single day for the past month,  Disney Descendants is premiering on the Disney Channel on July 31, 2015 plus on the same day the DVD is being released at Walmart along with the soundtrack.  The girls and I are super excited for it.  I’m like a kid when it comes to these movies!  In case you didn’t know,  Maleficent makes an appearance on the movie along with her daughter Mal.

While walking through Walmart the other day, we picked up Sleeping Beauty and Maleficent so we could watch them again to get ready for Descendants.  We found both of the movies in the electronics department with all the other movies.  (They were alphabetically sorted in case you can’t find them!)

We also picked up some candy to eat while watching the movies.  I’m sorry but candy and movies go hand in hand in my house.   Walmart has a big box full of theater candy for just $.98 conveniently located right near the movies!  SCORE!

To get the girls excited for the movie I thought it would be fun to celebrate all things Sleeping Beauty and Maleficent this week.  We stopped in the party section and picked up some Princess Party goods with our favorite Sleeping Beauty.   We already have party cups with Maleficent, we just needed Aurora.   They had a huge selection of party items so we grabbed a few things.

My oldest daughter had a great idea to see if we could find a game to play together so we headed on over to the toy section and found a Princess themed Uno Game with all the card games.  PERFECT!!  Of course Aurora was there, but not Maleficent.   I guess not everyone likes a villain like we do!

We set up the table on the porch since it’s a beautiful day outside and played Princess Uno after lunch.   We enjoyed some lemonade and chips with our Princess cups.  Of course our Maleficent cup joined the party too.  The girls LOVED it and are even more excited to see Descendants!

Afterwards, we watched both Sleeping Beauty and Maleficent and enjoyed our theater box candy.  It was a fun way to not only spend time with my girls, but to get them ready for Descendants.  They want to head back to Walmart to get more candy for the premiere on Friday!
