We recycle a lot!  As a matter of fact, since we moved into this house, we recycle even more.  In our old house we always ran out of room for recyclables in our bins.  They were small and falling a part.  I guess we could have asked for new ones and perhaps even bigger ones but I never took the time to look into it.  When we moved to our current house, we had two huge barrels for recyclables.  They used to have to separate cardboard from the rest in my town, but not anymore.  So we can mix all our recyclables into the two big bins each week.  So needless to say, I wanted to recycle as much as I could since we had the room to do it.  I went online and looked at our towns website to find out what we can and can not recycle.  Then I told my kids so they even knew.

Since we’ve moved here the only time our garbage bin was full on garbage day, is when we have parties at the house.  Otherwise they it’s not full because we recycle so much more.

I wasn’t surprised to hear that 7 out of 10 Americans say they always or almost always recycle because I know so many people who do.  But what I was surprised to hear is that only 1 in 5 consistently recycles bathroom items, according to a report commissioned by the Johnson & Johnson Family of Consumer Companies.   And then it got me thinking, do I recycle bathroom items?  And you know what?  I don’t always!  As a matter of fact, this morning I just put the kids empty shampoo bottle in the bathroom trash bin.   And most of the time I toss the toilet paper roll in there too. However, I always seem to toss the tissue boxes in the recycle bin.  But sadly, I’m one of those that doesn’t recycle in the bathroom much.    But that’s going to change as of right now.  Perhaps I’ll get a smaller trash bucket and keep it under my sink for bathroom recyclables!
