I know a lot of my readers have children so I was very excited to tell you about this new program from Lunchables called Field Trips For All. Basically what it comes down to is that during this current school year, school districts will be eliminating more field trips. It’s been reported in 2009 by The American Association of School Administrators, that the eliminations will increase by 56 percent! That’s a lot of schools that will lose out on hands on learning that comes along with field trips. The sad thing is there are some kids that learn best when hands on and they will be missing out on these wonderful opportunities.
You can help change that. As a matter of fact anyone 6 years and older can help! You can nominate a deserving classroom to be selected among 50 to go on an inspiring, educational experience. Even if you don’t have children in school, you may live in a district that doesn’t have lots of funding, or you may have a niece or nephew that goes to school. Or perhaps a school you attended way back. It doesn’t matter how you choose your nominee, as long as you choose one. Wouldn’t it be great to know you helped a school that had field trips cut from their budget?
My oldest will be entering Kindergarten in the fall. I recently registered her and while I thought it would be easy, it wasn’t. I walked out of there full of emotions after signing her up for public eduction for the next 13 years. We have a very good school system and I don’t think they would have a problem funding field trips but if they did I’d be so sad for her to miss out on these fun adventures. As a matter of fact, I can’t wait for her field trips because I am hoping to go to and help out! I’ve decided to nominate a school in Providence RI. I’m sure those are the schools that would be cut first in Rhode Island.
Check out this Alien Field Trip that some lucky 5th graders went on. This looks like a LOT of fun!
