When my husband and I were first married, he told me that for our first anniversary, we’d go to Vegas. I’ve never been and I have always wanted to go. It’s on my list of places to visit before I die. We both agreed it would be the perfect First Anniversary gift to each other.
We’ve been married for 12 years now and still haven’t gone to Las Vegas. We live on the east coast and when we started looking into a trip there for our anniversary, we were both working full time and didn’t have a lot of time off. We agreed a long weekend in Las Vegas would be perfect for the time. Then we started looking into booking the trip and our long weekend away looked like it was going to cost us a lot of money, so instead we went to Florida for the weekend.
We continue to talk about going someday and I know we will. But at this point it would be a family vacation rather than a get away for the two of is. I’m OK with that because I love family vacations, but that means it’ll cost us even more. So when we do plan our trip, we’ll need to save as much as we can. I truly believe we can save money doing anything, even taking a trip to Vegas.
This Las Vegas on a Budget infographic is from the team at Marriott Las Vegas Hotels.
Of course there is a Marriott in Vegas which is great because it’s one hotel I use often. I build up points all year long on my Visa card to use towards a stay at the Marriott. Using some of the tips above and those points, I’m sure I could score a great deal on a trip to Vegas with my family. Marriott International is a leading hospitality company with over 3,800 properties in over 74 countries and territories around the world, which is one reason I love them. I could stay in a Marriott just about anywhere I’d visit.
I do hope to get there someday and when I do I’ll share it with you!

Vegas is fabulous. Went several years back and was very conservative with our spending. Enjoyed the trip very much and it did not cost us an arm and a leg. Just have to be sensible on your spending. Hope you can make the trip.
Vegas is a great place to visit! My husband and I used to go there every 6 months for a 4 or 5 day vacation (from NY). There’s plenty to see and do, and if you like gambling, you just set a limit – you can have a fine time for less than the price of a movie. The buffets are to die for! You’ll see how funny it is, if you just walk around town, to see slot machines in supermarkets and 7-11’s! It’s also nice to get away from the hotels for a while, and check out the dam, the places like Red Rock and Valley of Fire. However, I made the mistake of moving to Vegas, and it was the most miserable 12 years of my life! Back in NY now! A word of caution: if you go in the summer, you will HAVE to take cabs. You cannot wait 20 minutes for a bus when the temperature is 112 degrees IN THE SHADE!
My husband and I have been to Vegas. It can be kind of pricey, however, there are is lots to see and do for free! We had lots of fun and didn’t spend a whopping amount!
