Just in time for summer – Planet Ocean – the documentary that takes you around the world on an unprecedented journey into the least known regions of the earth will be available on Blu-Ray and DVD April 19 from Universal Studios Home Entertainment.

Directed by highly acclaimed photographer, filmmaker and environmentalist Yann Arthus-Bertrand (Home) and narrated by actor Josh Duhamel (Transformers, Life As We Know It), this documentary comes just in time for Earth Day (April 22). Planet Ocean invites viewers to travel the globe with breathtaking aerial views and underwater imagery in extreme geographical conditions worldwide and is perfect for the whole family to enjoy!

My girls love watching documentaries about the sea, the earth and animals.  They just love to learn and shows like this hold their attention for a long time and it sparks a lot of questions and conversations during and then afterwards.  My husband loves them as well so he’s always excited when the girls show an interest in what he’s watching.  He’d watch the Discovery Channel and History Channel exclusively if he had too.

So when I was asked if we wanted to review Planet Ocean on Blu-ray, I knew my family would love it and they did.  This Blu-ray brings you deep into the ocean and shows us images that are absolutely breath-taking!  What I didn’t realize was one thing they were trying to teach us is to save some of the ocean life because eventually some of it will be gone.  I had no idea that if we continue to fish for massive amounts of tuna, eventually it will be gone.  We eat tuna all the time and I guess you just don’t think about the supply disappearing someday, but I suppose it could.  Especially the way we waste food.

Something that fascinated the girls from the documentary was how they raise seaweed.  I knew seaweed was used for many things but the girls had no idea and to see the way they grow in was pretty cool.

I think this is a great educational tool and would be a great addition to your movie library for all ages.
