TOMORROWLAND is rated PG and open in Theaters Everywhere Now

Today is the day we’ve been waiting for all week!  TOMORROWLAND, which is rated PG, is now in theaters everywhere!  Plan on taking the entire family to see it because the kids are going to love it.

I saw the movie earlier this month while in LA for the TOMORROWLAND press junket but I will be taking my girls to see it again this weekend.  They’ve been counting down the days until it was released.  My oldest and my husband went to the movies earlier this week and she came home super excited about the TOMORROWLAND trailer she saw.  She said “Mommy they showed like practically the entire movie in that trailer, they showed when Britt showed up at his house and then they went flying out of the house in the bathtub, it was great!”.  I giggled a little bit from her excitement and told her that a lot more happened in between the time she arrived at his house and they went flying off in the bathtub! (If you haven’t seen the trailer, you can see what part she is talking about below.  They really do go flying out of the house in a tub!)

The movie starts off with a young Frank Walker (played by Thomas Robinson) lugging a duffel bag through the World’s Fair.  Inside his bag  he has an invention that he made – a jet pack.   David Nix, a brilliant scientist (played by Hugh Laurie) brushes off Frank’s invention but he catches the eye of Athena (played by Raffey Cassidy).  She knows Frank is special and won’t let him go as easily as Nix did.

This is the first time we see the pin and what it can do.  That part I won’t tell you, not to spoil too much,  but I will tell you this, the next time you ride It’s a Small World, you’ll wish you too had a pin!

Then we meet Cassie (played by Britt Robertson), an optimistic teen with boundless scientific curiosity, who wants to do great things and to fix the world.  She believes that she can change the future and she “gets how things work”.    Cassie finds herself in possession of a pin but she’s not sure what it’s purpose is.

However, she’s very curious and determined to figure out what this pin does, no matter what she has to do.  She’s intrigued by the idea that the future could be something better than it is, and she’s determined to be a part of it.

With the help of a very determined Athena, she is led to a much older and grumpier Frank Walker who isn’t too pleased to see her or the pin.

He tries to get rid of her, but again Cassie’s determination pushes her to make him talk to her.  She’s a smart girl and in some ways smarter than Frank. Once he realizes this, he knows she can probably help our future and the key to it all is the pin.

That’s when the adventure begins and let me tell you from this point in the movie until the end, you’ll be sitting at the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens.   It’s exciting and hopeful all at once and you’ll leave the movie doing exactly what Directors and Producers Brad Bird and Damon Lindelof want you to do – make you think after you leave the movie!

The acting is great.  You’ll fall in love with the characters and they will draw you in so much,  that you’ll want them to be your friends.

Why?

  • Well, everyone wants George Clooney as a friend (heck he’s my new friend!).
  • Teens will want Casey as their best friend, though boys would be intimated by how smart she is.
  • Tweens will want Athena for playdates
  • Moms will want Tim McGraw as the single dad on their block (yes, Tim McGraw is in this movie and Britt Robertson gets to pretend he’s her dad for a little bit)
  • And who wouldn’t want to be Hugh Laurie’s friend to listen to his accent all day long!

This movie is Rated PG and it’s perfect for the entire family.  I think it’s great for kids to see that even at a young age they can affect the future and should want to affect it.  We don’t have to just accept the future for what it is, we can make it what we want it to be!

TOMORROWLAND is rated PG and open in theaters everywhere now!
