We always have a jar of Vaseline Jelly in the house. And each of my girls has their own little jar next to their beds. This time of year with the air being so dry and the cold and wind, they always have dry skin but especially their lips and face. So whenever they start showing signs of redness, they use Vaseline Jelly and within days it’s better. What we found with Vaseline Jelly over other things, is that it doesn’t sting when they apply it.
Discovered in 1870, Vaseline Jelly is the original dry skin healer, and to this day it still effectively locks in moisture to deeply heal dry skin. Triple purified to be 100% pure and safe, Vaseline Jelly has many protective and preventative uses, including personal care, baby, beauty, athletic, and more. In fact, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recognizes the ingredient in Vaseline Jelly Original as an over-the-counter skin protectant.
How does it work?
Vaseline Jelly locks in moisture by creating an intercellular occlusive layer below the surface of the skin. Semi-solid at room temperature, the product liquefies when it is rubbed, allowing it to penetrate the skin and reform as an effective moisture barrier in the stratum corneum. This unique skin moisturizing mechanism is unlike many other ointments and creams on the market that just sit topically (e.g., silicone), or enter and exit the skin too quickly (e.g., mineral oil). Sitting inside the surface skin, the Vaseline Jelly fills in for (or substitutes) the body’s intercellular lipids, which are lost in dry skin conditions, fortifying the skin’s natural moisture barrier. By locking in moisture, Vaseline Jelly helps creates the ideal conditions known to help with desquamation and the acceleration of the skin’s own natural barrier recovery mechanism.
Vaseline Jelly is packaged in a convenient, recyclable flip cap jar, making it easy to access the moisturizing power inside with just one hand and comes in the following varieties:
- Vaseline Jelly Original
- Vaseline Rich Conditioning Jelly Cocoa Butter
- Vaseline Jelly Baby
All Vaseline Jelly variants are available at food, drug and mass retail outlets.
There are so many ways to use Vaseline Jelly and many of them you may have never even thought of. I’ve put it on my feet before bedtime before when they’ve been at their driest but I never thought to add sea salt to it to use it as an exfoliate. Did you? Great idea, don’t you think?
